This was a biennial exhibition which promoted Chinese modernity in art and principally invited artists with a R.O.C. passport or equivalent ancestry. This nationwide, competitors fashion, exhibition was replaced in 1992 by the Taipei Biennial and the Taipei Prize. The Taipei Biennial had curators or critics invite an artist to exhibit, whereas the Taipei Prize continued to serve as a contest Museum of Art fashion event aimed at discovering younger or unknown artists. The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s earliest roots date back to 1866 in Paris, France, when a gaggle of Americans agreed to create a “nationwide institution and gallery of art” to deliver art and art training to the American individuals.
