A fishing hook “lodged” inside the stomach of a dog is a reminder to fishermen about the importance of responsible fishing as the “common” injury continues to threaten the lives of pets.

Pennsylvania SPCA rescues over 70 dogs, cats, birds from home

EFFORT, Pennsylvania (WPVI) — On Friday, the Pennsylvania SPCA announced it had rescued over 70 pets from a home in Effort, Monroe County after an individual on the property died.

The video in the player above is from a previous report.

Officials announced on Saturday that the animal rescue was on a much larger scale.

They now say roughly 170 pets were recovered from the home.

There are over 3,500 species of snakes across the globe. One Regina enthusiast has managed to get his hands on one of the rarer reptiles.

Stephen Whitworth loves snakes, having kept the cold blooded companion at his home since the 1990’s.

“They learn to know who you are and to trust you and to interact with you and I certainly love my pets,” he told CTV News.

For Whitworth, it’s been a long term commitment.

“I’ve still got a snake that is turning 30 this fall,” he said.
