AN event management company has been hired by Kerry County Council to organize and oversee a full street entertainment program during this year’s Rose of Tralee festival.

Last month the Rose of Tralee company caused considerable shock in Tralee when it announced that it would not be organizing any street entertainment events during this year’s festival and that it had decided to “pass the organization of the street’s events back to Tralee town”.

Shively Animal Clinic shooting death of TJ Taylor no charges filed

The Jefferson County Commonwealth’s Attorney will not pursue charges against the woman who shot and killed a Shively Animal Clinic employee at the business last month, citing evidence that showed the shooter was acting in self-defense.

In a Wednesday release, Commonwealth’s Attorney Gerina Whethers said a grand jury examining the case had returned a no true bill, meaning not enough evidence was found to put forward criminal charges against a defendant. That jury had considered charges of second-degree manslaughter and reckless homicide.

The Courier Journal is not naming the woman because she is not facing any charges in the incident.

Pet pantries, food banks see growing demand amid ‘difficult time’ for pet owners

Denise Angus has operated a pet rescue center and food bank for the last seven years, but she has never seen such a “remarkable increase in demand” for the services the center provides.

Angus, the founder of Mattie’s Place, says the need for help to feed pets has been soared in recent years. The center has gone from feeding 500 to 600 pets per month before the COVID-19 pandemic to about 1,200 per month.
